Knitwit's Rambles

My attempt to actually have a knitting blog, and to update it regularly. We'll see how well that works.

Citius! Altius! Fortius!

And they're off!

Started my bag yesterday at work, worked on it last night while watching the Opening Ceremonies at home, and...I'm about 1/3 of the way through the pattern already.

Hrm. This may not take as long to do as I thought. Guess I can cast on those Jaywalker socks

Photos coming soon hopefully.

Also, someone on the Team Canada blog posted a button for "Team Western"--that's the University of Western Ontario.

Not to be outdone by someone from Western, I made my own for my alma mater:

I'm probably the only Team Canada member that went to Trent, but still. Go Trent!

    Hoorah!

    More Trent knitters!

Please may I steal your button?

And also instructions on how to make that bag? It's amazing.

Go ahead and steal, though there's no official team. :-)

The bag's really easy to make. Te pattern's from a book printed by Bag Lady Press: http://www.baglady.com

Basically you just gradually increase the number of beads being placed at intervals - 1 bead every 3 stitches for a few rows, then 2 beads every three stitches, then 3 beads... There are a few short rows to give the bottom of the bag that kind of seashell shape, then you basically do the same thing in reverse for the other side of the bag and sew up the sides at the end. The main trick is getting used to using the teeny tiny needles (1.25mm), and keeping track of what row you're on.

    Hope that helps!
